Phelps Memorial Health Center is pleased to announce that Brenda Lamb has been hired as the Director of Phelps Medical Group.
In this role, Lamb will oversee the operations of Phelps Medical Group, ensuring seamless collaboration between patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals. She joined Phelps Medical Group as a consultant in April and transitioned into this permanent role in July. She brings more than 25 years of experience within the healthcare industry by serving in leadership roles in critical access hospitals, rural health clinics, physician owned practices, and corporate healthcare organizations.
Lamb's journey in healthcare began in radiology, where she quickly developed a passion for patient care and team development. Her experience was complimented by a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management and a Master’s degree in Human Relations and Business. She shared that experience and education shaped her into a transformative leader with a strategic vision and deep commitment to quality care.
“My passion is ensuring people are able to maximize their abilities, which will directly impact the exceptional care they can give to the patient,” said Lamb.
When asked why she made the decision to join the team, she said “The culture. From the moment I walked in, every employee made eye contact, smiled, said hello, and helped me find my way. It has been like no other healthcare facility. The values of integrity, compassion, dedication, and teamwork are not just words here – they’re practiced every day.”
Lamb is not new to rural communities and is a native of Polk, Nebraska. “My small-town upbringing and parents’ commitment to community service provided me with a solid foundation to work hard, care for others, and to be open to new possibilities. My heart is tied to rural Nebraska and I want to help make a difference,” she said. She and her husband Brent have two sons, Aidan and Isaac. They currently reside in Gretna but will relocate to Holdrege in the coming year.
Lamb’s patient care philosophy centers on respect and empathy. “Patients have a choice in where they want to go. I want them to choose Phelps Medical Group not only because we provide excellent medical care, but because they feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way,” she said.
