Phelps Medical Group is proud to welcome Dr. Kevin Amthor, D.O., to its medical team. Dr. Amthor is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals and families across all stages of life.
“I believe the physician-patient relationship is both unique and deeply meaningful,” he said. “My goal is to ensure that each patient is well-informed about their health, empowered with clear options, and supported in making decisions that align with their values,” said Dr. Amthor. “That includes services like natural family planning, which I see as another way to help patients make choices that fit their personal health goals.”
When asked why he chose family medicine, Dr. Amthor shared, “For me, family practice is about the privilege of caring for people through every stage of life, from welcoming new babies into the world to supporting patients at the end of life. It’s about building lasting relationships with families and caring for generations.”
Dr. Amthor and his wife, Kendra, live in Holdrege with their four children Nora, Charlie, Jack, and Gemma. He was drawn to Holdrege because of family connections in the community and close proximity to both his parents and in-laws in Kansas.
Dr. Amthor is a member of the American Board of Family Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and a Master’s of Bioscience from Kansas City University, College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Biosciences, in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita, Kansas, and holds an undergraduate degree in biology from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. Dr. Amthor was also inducted into the Psi Sigma Alpha Medical Academic Honor Society.
